Bourbon BBQ Sauce - KC Style

Ingredients:

1 (8oz) Can Tomato Sauce
1 Cup Brown Sugar
½ Cup Bourbon
¼ Cup Tomato Paste
¼ Cup Molasses
¼ Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
¼ Cup Pineapple Juice
2 Tbs Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tbs Mustard Powder
1 Tbs Paprika
2 tsp Kosher Salt
1 tsp Garlic Powder
½ tsp Onion Powder
½ tsp Fresh Ground Black Pepper
½ - 1 tsp Liquid Smoke - amount to taste (OPTIONAL)
⅛ tsp Cayenne Pepper - or to taste

Preparation:
  1. Place all of the ingredients into a medium, non-reactive saucepan and whisk until smooth
  2. Place over medium-high heat and bring to a boil (make sure to stir occasionally) - As soon as a boil is reached, reduce to a gentle simmer, and allow to cook (stirring frequently) for 10-30 minutes until thickened to your liking - Add a bit of water to thin consistency if necessary
  3. Can be used immediately but it will be even better if you allow to completely cool, transfer to airtight container(s), and refrigerated overnight before using(sauce can be stored in airtight containers in refrigerator up to 60 days or frozen for up to 6 months
